do you like your job?
i do but i'm looking for something more in my life

I like photography, but this is 1 of 3 decent pictures I've ever taken (obviously manipulated in a dark room).

I like music, but suck at playing the guitar.

I saw PY once in a bagel shop, but I won't tell you which one. The man deserves his privacy and I like my horses pretty high.

Lame

Just broke up.

It was short and wasn't love, but it still sucks.

Giving myself the rest of the weekend to wallow in some self pity before picking up and dusting off.

I need some good breakup songs and I know you are just the people to come to.

Recommendations?

Grossness

Hangovers are NOT fun. I don't know why I never remember this (or to drink enough water) the night before when I AM having fun.

We had a show last night. One of our bands opened for The Mother Hips who put on one of the sickest live shows I've ever seen. Pure energetic Californian jam rock. What's not to love?

I'll tell you what's not to love... drinking too many beers, heading back to a hotel, going to Denny's at 2am and ordering eggs and bacon. Eggs and bacon do not mix well… Continue

Be Forwarned: it's a rant

I am so frustrated right now. Sorry to take it out here, but I don't have a "normal" blog to vent to!

I work for a very small label. I spent MONTHS putting together a
project for one of our bands, including a music video and videotaped
interviews and had convinced a director to do the entire project for
free just because he really liked the music and we're small time. He
put together this really creative idea that was going to sync
beautifully with their aesthetic. All the singer had to… Continue

It's All About the Music

Is there anything more spirit lifting and life affirming than live music? I can't think of a single thing.

I saw John Mayer at the Nokia Theatre in LA last night and it just absolutely blew me away. He did three sets from each of his styles (acoustic, blues trio and full band) and absolutely rocked the house for close to three hours.

It, of course, helps that I had really good seats, but the energy from the audience and the stage was infectious.

Even after a full night… Continue

Hi Friend:

I hope your day is going well for you. I ran across some cool software that I think you'll be interested in and can help you hide folders and files on your computer. This can come in real handy when you have sensitive files that you want to keep private from prying eyes. Use Hide Those Folders software to keep private files from being viewed by children, employers, employees, and even hackers!

Hide Those Folders will hide your sensitive files and folders so that they can't be seen or accessed. Files stay hidden even if you turn on "View Hidden Files" Even links in your recent documents menu won't be able to find your hidden files or hidden folders.

The best part is that Hide Those Folders offers a FREE "Try Before You Buy" trial.

Oh cool. Thanks for the followup. Will provide more details later but hanging in there. Some difficult deadlines at work right now - sort of reminding me of that blog you wrote a while back. Actually WAZ is playing at the Hotel Cafe third week of February I read. I suspect he will be there every month. Seems he has steady gigs there, in SF, and San Diego. Glad you are doing better...that is really good to hear. OK...will touch base when this rush is past. Nice to hear from you. xx

I meant to ask you how you are doing. I was thinking about the other day wondering if the time has helped at all. If you ever need anything let me know.

I've been slam dunking going to see the Oscar nominated movie list. Well..I slipped in Rambo on Saturday - gosh that was just so great for me - heavy duty serious flick. Got Atonement and No Country for Old Men left. I hear WAZ is playing at Hotel Cafe at the end of Feb. - I might try to catch that. Gosh his new release is so good - I feel like it's sent by God or something. Honestly...Pete and Waz? How lucky can you get. Both of their music styles is a direct connect for me. Can't wait to get his CD on payday. Have a good one.

Thanks for the info. Wow, Largo is right near Canter's Deli? I just to live three blocks from there. I think I recall Colin Hay playing there (that is great) - I saw him in 2006 with opening act Thomas Dolby (out of this world lemme tell ya - two feet from him). OK well this perspective is very helpful. Its not all that easy to get out with my daughter but with this sort of "stop by for the set" approach I can expand my horizons a bit. I wanted to see WAZ, Lissie, Ingrid Michaelson, and Rob Dickinson there. Hopefully can catch them in the spring. Thanks for the info!!! Deb

Oh I see...Hotel Cafe it right up there. Cool. I'm going to start going there in the spring. You've been there right? You just by a ticket for the specific band you are seeing? It seems to be quite timely in terms of when the shows start. This sort of "in and out" approach will work well for me - and most of the time the bands I want to see start at 8 or 9pm.

I felt sad that I got rid of all my vinyl two years ago. I just didn't want to get a turntable and would never have the time to do any of that. Perhaps it was my daughters reaction to all that vinyl that worked the sad track - her reaction was like she found dinosaur bones or something. I'll get over it. They had a nice Elvis Jailhouse Rock doll in there!! Really fun place...

Jen, so very pleased that you enjoyed my playlist! Oldschool Joseph Arthur and Teddy Thompson are amongst my favorites. I'm sure you've seen the video of Martha, Rufus and Teddy performing "One Man Guy". Lovely.

Glad you had a good times with the tunes - anything to make that paperwork fly by is a good thing, right? ;-)
