I took a ride down to the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles this evening (7/6/09) to check out the Michael Jackson pre-memorial activities. It was quite amazing. There was a line of over 1000 people waiting to sign one of the three Signature Billboards. There were two differen… Continue

I was going through some of my files and ran across this amazing George Carlin piece that I had saved....
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but… Continue

When I first moved to LA I used to take trips up north and travel on the 101, especially at Thanksgiving and I'll never forget the first time I saw "Santa Claus Lane." Far in the distance you would see this giant Santa Claus figure and it was just the coolest thing. I really had a lot of fun stopping there as it was so theme oriented. Every year I would buy different Christmas ornaments and everything was so unique. At the time I didn't realize that this place had been around since the 1940's –… Continue

Last year I started watching "Lost" for the first time and am currently catching up with the Season DVD's. A few months back I mentioned to my sister that I had started watching it and she became quite happy because she has watched it from the beginning. We talked about it for a while and then she started talking about "Sawyer" and how much she just loved him. She really went into detail and sounded like she was going to move toward unconsciousness by the time she was through. I thought it was c… Continue
This is a set of shots I took today in LA from the highrise I work at (18th floor - 30 blocks from Ocean - Off of Wilshire Blvd.). That is the ocean and Santa Monica. What looks like clouds is actually smoke trapped in the atmosphere from the LA fires. Something about the dust in the smoke creates this cool looking orange tint. This type of view is very rare and I managed to get the whole sunset. No touch-up was done on this set of shots. These are straight from the camera.… Continue
I've always wanted to go to a "Pumpkin Patch" for my whole life but never went to one. They are actually called "Pumpkin Farms." Yesterday I decided that I wanted to take a trip to one and take some photos. So I found one in Ventura, CA which was about sixty miles from where I live and drove there. What a fun time. I really didn't know what to expect and was really quite amazed at how vast it was.
I walked way out into the fields and many of the pumpkins were still attached to the vines - I cou… Continue

I saw the news today about the father in California who was under financial duress and took the lives of his entire family and then himself. I also heard the new of some 1700 families and Massachusetts whose homes went into foreclosure and have to now live in homeless shelters or motels. There are thousands and thousands more stories like this. It's very sad and unfortunate and any one of us could be there at a moments notice. The amount of courage and strength required to rise out of these situ… Continue

I've seen this poem before and just ran across it again today. It is just so powerful...
The Invitation
By: Oriah Mountain DreamerIt doesn't interest me what you do for a living
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dreams
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon...

I ran across this video today which is a promo piece of Michael Moore's upcoming film "Slacker Uprising." With his excellent timing he again is making a plea to young voters to turn over the current administration and get out and vote. This film will have special guests including Eddie Vedder, Tom Morello, REM, and more. I've always been a big fan of Michael Moore and admire him for his courage to get out there and fearlessly turn over stones that others dare not touch. Bravo!!

Call me when it's over
When things have taken a better turn
Call me when it's over
When will people ever learn?
So hard to always swim upstream
Always a force against the grain
Pushing with will to catch your dream
Then getting caught in the rain
Call me when it's over
When it's… Continue
I'm in the process of getting back to what I should be doing – what I used to do to keep myself stress free and able to handle anything that came my way. When you get into the rhythm of a process that works you think that nothing could ever tear you away from it but then sometime later you are wondering what happened and looking at a long list of "reasons" why you got off track (e.g., job, relationship, death, world tragedy, just don't feel like it, someone looked at you the wrong way yesterday,… Continue
With nothing on my mind
I'm still on a journey
I've stopped wondering
Questioning everything in my path
If I instinctively know then I feel at peace
If confusion surrounds me I know it's not time
I don't need to know about love
There is no need to question its meaning
No need to analyze every ebb and flow
It's in being, in forgiveness, in kindness
It's the openness that brings you peace
It's not in wanting or needing
A desperate need to fill a void is not the answer
I don't need to know about… Continue
